Grenada Flower & Garden Festival: November 8th - November 15th
This year, Grenada celebrates its horticulture legacy by inaugurating a new event: the Grenada Flower & Garden Festival. Organized by the Grenada Tourism Authority, it highlights biodiversity, creativity, sustainability, and the Spice Isle's traditions.
The activities run from November 8th to November 15th, offering visitors a range of experiences in flowers, local cuisine, history, and the country’s well-known spices.
The Grenada Flower & Garden Festival Blooms This November
The Festival offers a fresh perspective, giving Grenadian growers and landscapers a chance to participate and demonstrate propagation techniques, share trade tips, and lead hands-on floral masterclasses. It's a great chance to learn more about Grenadian ecology, its distinct microclimates, and the island’s floral diversity.
What the Festival holds for Gardeners and Horticulturists: Smell, Taste, and Learn in Grenada.
Over 8 days, flower enthusiasts will find plenty to enjoy. They can move from quiet contemplation of the beautiful specimens to active participation in workshops, cultural tours, and tastings.
Visitors can relish the most exquisite plants and blossoms, some of which are truly unique. They can take the Heliconias, Gingers & Orchids Tour to see the largest collection of heliconias and gingers in the Eastern Caribbean. They can also see exotic ylang-ylang, native to Southeast Asia, and allspice, the only significant culinary spice native to the Western Hemisphere.
Some tours focus on the region’s gastronomy and rum-producing heritage, offering outings through estates with tastings and lunch featuring local dishes.
For cultural travelers and lifelong learners, plenty of educational activities take them back to the area’s history as a world-class spice and cocoa producer. To take a break from the more active excursions, they can take a soothing rainforest walk, enjoy a riverside facial, and try a waterfall immersion. This program, called Nature’s Spa in Full Bloom, takes place on Wednesday the 11th.
On Thursday the 12th, festivalgoers can wear their best outfits to attend the Royal Grenadian Tea Party, featuring chef-crafted petits fours, live entertainment, and even a Royal Hat and Fascinator Competition.
Finally, during the weekend (the event’s closing dates), an art exhibition will display flower-themed pieces and several works inspired by Grenada’s lush vegetation. During the weekend, people can also visit the marketplace and marvel at dashing flower-arrangement exhibitions. The Flower Show and Marketplace opens with a gala the day before (Friday, November 13th).
