Best Caribbean Wedding Destinations

The Caribbean is many things to many people: a place to snorkel, surf until sunset, or simply do nothing under a relentless sun. Most people come for the beaches and the rum, while others choose it to host the most important event in their lives: their wedding.

Today, we focus on those who really want this day to be special and are turning their gaze toward the Caribbean to make this ceremony truly unforgettable.

Getting Married Abroad? Things you Must Consider

Planning a vacation is not the same as planning a wedding. The latter requires more complex logistics, including everything from where to accommodate guests to ensuring your marriage will be valid anywhere on Earth. So, next, there are a few tips to consider when planning a wedding abroad.

Simplify Things for Your Guests

Most of your guests will probably have to clear up their schedule and pay for travel tickets and accommodation just to share this special moment with you. So you want to make it as easy as possible for them.

Ask yourself questions like the following, and make decisions accordingly:

How frequent are flights from your home country to your wedding destination?

Is the wedding site close to the airport, and how can people get there?

Do your guests need a passport or a specific visa permit?

Will you be arranging their accommodation, or will they do it themselves?

If that’s the case, do they have accommodation options close to the venue?

Local Marriage Requirements

It's important to find out in advance what documentation is required at the moment and what was required beforehand. For instance, some of the islands require a minimum stay before the ceremony, or that documents be sent by courier several weeks in advance.

This residency time is not that long; depending on the location, it typically ranges from 24 to 72 hours. However, no matter how short the stay is, this should be confirmed with reliable sources to avoid unpleasant surprises.

You should leave no question unanswered and find everything out to the last detail. In some jurisdictions, the day of arrival counts, while in others, it doesn’t. And in most of them, the minimum stay applies only to business days; on weekends, marriage ceremonies are not held or incur higher fees.

The most relevant matter is determining whether the union will be valid and recognized worldwide.

Wedding Packages

Consider choosing places with a well-developed destination wedding market. Here you will find hospitality brands or travel agencies offering ready-made solutions that adapt to different budgets.

A great approach is to choose wedding packages from all-inclusive resorts. With them, you can cover everybody's accommodation, meals, and beverages, while the staff takes care of all the arrangements and party logistics.

Furthermore, they can probably advise on everything related to the previous point.

Best Caribbean Destinations for Tying the Knot

Everyone's Favorite: the Lovely Jamaica

Jamaica has a charm that’s hard to compete with, thanks to its widely known reggae music, its breathtaking natural landscapes, and its warm hospitality. This, plus its affordability, makes it the choice of one-third of couples getting married in the Caribbean.

Taking advantage of this trend, the government has set forward several initiatives to enhance Jamaica’s tourism potential. The wedding service market is already quite successful, and is projected to expand towards 2032.

The Rock: Accessible Destination for US Travelers in the Virgin Islands

Even though its nickname may make it sound like a rough place, Saint Thomas is famous for its natural beauty. This island, with 55,000 permanent residents, is the size of Manhattan, and it’s dubbed The Rock because of its topography, which adds nothing but depth to its pristine beaches. Some of its sites, such as Mages Bay, the Plantation Crown, and Hawk Botanical Garden, offer a dreamy backdrop for your wedding photos.

Saint Thomas, being part of the US Virgin Islands, is particularly appealing to Americans. This is US soil, so getting married here is exactly like getting married in any other state. Nevertheless, on the mainland, you can rarely find such a magical place to read your vows, or the exotism of pledging your love in a secluded paradise.

From a practical point of view, the main advantage is that the guests don’t need a passport to travel here, let alone a visa.

Aruba: A Supreme Background to Say “I do” Any Time of Year

The optimal time of the year for an outdoor ceremony is the dry season, from December to April. If, for whatever reason, you want to have your wedding in another month, choose Aruba. Being closer to the mainland, it’s outside the hurricane belt and enjoys sunny weather most days.

The country is often chosen for its spectacular backgrounds. This is where you can get your perfect wedding picture: the bride and the groom beaming with happiness, with a never-ending stretch of sand, the gentle caress of a transparent sea, and the disruptive rocky cliffs behind them.

For these very same reasons, the industry is thriving. Hence, there are several impressive venues and service packages available for your most special day.

On the downside, it’s more expensive than other alternatives and has considerably more red tape. The documents must be mailed via courier at least one month before the wedding, and religious ceremonies may require additional documentation.

St Lucia: Read your Vows on the Most Romantic Island

The towering Pitons (two volcanic peaks rising by the ocean shore) shape St Lucia’s skyline and give it a unique imprint. They offer fantastic views that anyone would enjoy contemplating while walking down the aisle.

This scenery and the abundance of romance-oriented accommodations have made St Lucia popular for romantic escapades. And what can be more romantic than a wedding?

This is more than just a perception: In 2025, St Lucia obtained two gold Travvy awards for best honeymoon destination and best wedding destination, and a silver Travvy award for best destination in the Caribbean.

Maybe one of its most attractive characteristics is that you can contemplate amazing landscapes almost anywhere: the Pigeon Island National Park and Castries on the north side, and the Piton mountain range as you move south.

The cherry on the cake is that it boasts some of the most flexible marriage requirements.

A Few Honorable Mentions

Having established some of the best countries for your wedding, we can't refrain from mentioning those that don’t fall far behind from the above-mentioned “winners”:

The Bahamas is just 50 miles from the coast of Florida, with year-round great weather and endearing landscapes, and is consistently chosen for its convenient location and a developed destination wedding industry.

Barbados offers easy access via several direct flights from the US, Canada, the UK, and Europe, simplifying your guests' arrival. It’s also easy on the groom and bride as it has flexible requirements.

Puerto Rico, like the United States Virgin Islands, is a US territory, making travel convenient for American visitors. Once a Spanish colony, it has the distinctive charm of Latin culture, combined with rich colonial architecture, historical landmarks, and tropical enchantment.

Dominica is ideal for more bucolic scenery like waterfalls, rivers, lush vegetation, and flowers. Perfect if the bride and groom enjoy ecotourism, as the wedding can slowly transition into an adventure-focused honeymoon in the Nature Island.

Where to Get Married in the Caribbean?

Soon-to-be-married couples should aim for a balance between personal tastes, budget, and convenience.

For striking sights, nothing beats Aruba; for a more budget-friendly option, Jamaica remains everyone's favorite.  For convenience, the US Virgin Islands and Barbados stand out, while St Lucia is the romantic destination par excellence.

Ready to make it truly unforgettable? The Caribbean awaits. Any of these islands will certainly be the perfect scenario for you to tie the knot.
