When Is the Best Time to Visit Bonaire?

4 | Plan a Trip to the Oldest Marine Reserve in the World 

Bonaire was a pioneer in the global environmental movements. On this unique island, you’ll discover the world’s oldest marine reserve, established in 1979. The Bonaire National Marine Park was created after the islanders began protecting its turtle population, followed by prohibiting spearfishing and protecting the coral reefs. 

At Bonaire National Marine Park alone, 86 public dive spots are accessed both by boat and from the shore. You can also swim, sail, snorkel, and kayak through the mangroves. 

5 | Walk Around Bonaire’s Colorful Capital 

Another must-do when vacationing in Bonaire is to explore the island’s bright and colorful capital city, Kralendijk. Downtown is walkable and filled with locally-owned shops, craft stores, arcades, bars, restaurants, and more.
