Famous Chefs and Industry Leaders Get Together at the Antigua and Barbuda Restaurant Month this May

The Caribbean becomes ever more interesting each year. As developments and resorts flourish and the tourism industry strengthens, the islands are getting ready to show their traditions, culture, and history to the world.

This is exactly what’s happening in Antigua and Barbuda this May as it gears up to celebrate its annual restaurant week.

Restaurant week in Antigua and Barbuda: food, music, events, and relevant discussions

Restaurant Month is an annual event that has taken place in Antigua and Barbuda since 2023. Its essence is to celebrate the country's rich culinary heritage through a series of gatherings and specially curated menus across participating restaurants.

More than 50 establishments are participating and showcasing their signature dishes alongside menus specially created for the occasion. Guests can explore the finest food in St. John's, with two entire weeks at their disposal to experience everything from Caribbean to American, Italian, and French food.

The bold Asian cuisine will be well represented, with Japanese, Chinese, and Thai menus offering each region’s unique blend of savory, sweet, and aromatic flavors, while fusion restaurants will be available for those who want to try something more daring.

As part of restaurant week, foodies can choose from casual dining, bistros, upscale casual, and fine dining. Furthermore, there will be fixed price menus with three tiers: $25, $50, and $75 across all the eateries.

Diners can visit the restaurants separately or book culinary tours with the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority around the English Harbor, and the southside and northside of St John’s.

Culinary Experiences and Food-Related Events in the Antiguian Capital

The restaurant week itself lasts two weeks, running from May 3 to May 17. The celebrations, however, continue through May 30, wrapping up with a beach party and cookout featuring some of the region's most acclaimed chefs.

A Caribbean Food Forum will take place on May 21st, at the John E. St. Luce Finance and Conference Center located in the heart of the capital. This venue is the country's premier modern conference venue, which has hosted the island’s most prestigious events since its inauguration in 2022.

Grace Foods presents the Caribbean Food Forum

The forum is presented by the Caribbean Tourism Organization and Grace Foods, the leading food manufacturer and distributor in the area. Renowned chefs and experts in hospitality and tourism will explore key topics shaping the culinary world, with emphasis on sustainable and environmentally responsible practices.

Discussions will cover waste reduction, responsible sourcing, sustainable farming and fishing methods, and farm-to-table initiatives.

Other events and highlights throughout Antigua this May

The entire month of May will be a celebration of the culinary arts, rounded out with live music, artist performances, DJ sets, local food vendors, chef showcases, and mixology demonstrations.

Pigeon Point Beach will host a collaborative dinner on May 27, and on May 29, one day before the closing, a fundraising dinner will honor the women who stand out in the culinary industry, featuring the dishes of three renowned female chefs.

For foodies, there is no better time than this May to visit Antigua and Barbuda. Immersed in a richly cultural, lively atmosphere, they will be able to savor local delicacies, experience daring fusion cuisine, and stay up to date with the latest trends.
