As a child, you may remember seeing the iconic Atlantis towers in magazines featuring celebrities taking vacations, pamphlets advertising the resort, and hearing about it from family and friends. It was always the “it” place to visit. Let’s see what Atlantis has been up to over the past two decades. Happy 25th, Atlantis!
Upgraded Features
“A dramatic upgrade of its culinary offering, one that now includes Chef Jose Andres’ Fish; Danny Meyer’s Shake Shack (the first in the Caribbean); Chef Alon Shaya’s Silan, which just opened its doors; Chef Michael White’s Paranza; and Chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s Nobu, among others.”

Celebrating 25 Years of Atlantis
Here we are a quarter century later. The Royal, aka Atlantis, remains a flagship hotel for a vast region of people. Over the past 25 years, it has just gotten better. The Royal has attracted Michelin-starred chefs and awareness for marine conservation that will continue to benefit the Caribbean for years to come.
A two-day event celebrated the history and significance of the property from the beginning, with a kickoff dinner by Chef Michael White’s new restaurant, The Cove. This celebration concluded with a birthday cake bash at another new place, Bar Sol, inside the reimagined Atlantis casino.
The anniversary comes as the hotel has completed a large-scale renovation of all its rooms and suites, adding fresh, modern aesthetics while maintaining its original concept of a marine environment in the Bahamas.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit the Royal in the Bahamas is during the country’s peak season, from mid-December to mid-April. During this time, temperatures rarely dip below 60 degrees. This island is in the hurricane belt, so be sure to factor in the weather if you plan on traveling between June 1st and November 30th. Bon Voyage!
