A Deep Insight Into the Most Creative Side of the Caribbean: Visit the Cayman Art Week this May

If you are planning to visit the Caribbean and you like art, then May is the right month, and the Cayman Islands is the right place. With the capital, George Town, as the main host, the islands are celebrating the 6th edition of their Art Week.

The event promises to be entertaining, enriching, and inspiring for both locals and visitors alike, featuring contemporary works, digital art, workshops, panel discussions, and pop-up interventions.

Six Years of Supporting Local Art

Cayman Art Week debuted in 2021, and since then, the whole country has been lit up by the inventiveness of contemporary creators. The core mission of the event is to connect collectors with artists. To facilitate the sale of art while offering the general public a window into the Caymans’ art scene.

A wide range of participants are invited each year, from galleries and sponsors to hospitality providers, all of whom have the opportunity to contribute to the local culture and promote their products and services to both residents and tourists.

What Aesthetes, Collectors, and Attendees will Find During the Cayman Art Week

Galleries

Several galleries are taking part this year, as in previous celebrations, showcasing both permanent and rotating collections that span from traditional watercolor paintings to the latest trends. The variety of participating venues brings richness and diversity to the week.

Among them are the Goodness Gallery; the Sandon Feat Gallery, which displays the work of a single artist, the late CE Whitney; and the Gallery by Jason Kennedy. The latter will exhibit Kennedy's work, centered on the flamboyance and beauty of the Caribbean, as well as the everyday life of its people. It will also host an exhibition called Pieces, featuring works by multiple artists. Without a fixed common theme across the showcases, “Pieces” promises to be eclectic and astonishing.

Studios

The opportunity to visit working studios offers a uniquely immersive way to experience art and the chance to meet the people who dedicate their lives to it. Over 10 studios will open their doors during Art Week, giving visitors a look at the artists' creative spaces and works in progress.

It is an intimate way to connect with the essence of art in the Cayman Islands, and, above all, with the people behind it. Visitors can expect to find a wide span of disciplines, including ceramics, jewelry, sculpture, photography, and mixed media.

Pop-ups

Pop-ups are a modern approach to art. It gives venues not typically associated with exhibitions, host temporary shows, surprise displays, or live performances.

Their appeal lies in their spontaneous, unexpected nature, challenging conventional ideas about where and how art should be experienced. In 2026, pop-up events will be hosted at Icoa Café, Hotel Indigo, and Cask Whiskey Bar, among other locations.

Events and Tours

Over the course of the six days event, running from May 26 to 31, visitors can enjoy auctions, guided tours, and intimate gatherings with artists. Guests can engage in conversations with the artists and gain insights into their creative work.

For visitors looking to explore multiple venues in a single day, specially organized walking and bus tours provide curated areas such as Camana Bay, Seven Mile Beach, Central George Town, the Industrial Park, and other key locations.

May could be the best time to visit the Cayman Islands for those interested in more than sunbathing and scuba diving. For visitors planning ahead, the official Cayman Art Week website provides all the information needed on artists, events, and exhibitions.

All in all, this is a fantastic way to discover a different side of the Caribbean; a kind of beauty born from human emotion, introspection, and creative vision. While the islands are world-renowned for their stunning beaches, turquoise waters, and dramatic landscapes, Cayman Art Week reveals an equally powerful beauty: one that comes from the heart, the mind, and bold artistic expression.
